What does it mean to be saved?
Understanding the Doctrine of Salvation

Salvation is at the heart of the Christian faith. In this short presentation, Pastor James explains what Scripture teaches about God’s grace, Christ’s sacrifice, faith, repentance, and what it means to receive God’s gift of salvation.
Meet our Pastor
Dr. James Knight
Dr. James Knight and his wife, Robin, came to St. John Baptist Church in June 2023. Together, they have embraced the opportunity to serve the congregation and share in the life and ministry of the St. John church family.

Before coming to St. John, Dr. Knight served for three years as Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of York in York, South Carolina. Earlier in his ministry, he served as Director of Children and Youth Ministry at First Baptist Church of Elizabeth City in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Education
Dr. Knight earned his Bachelor of Biblical Studies from Mid-Atlantic Christian University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, in 2016; his Master of Divinity from Emory University's Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2019; and his Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, in 2026.
My Heart for Ministry
Dr. Knight has a passion for faithfully preaching and teaching God's Word. He believes that a strong understanding of Scripture and sound biblical doctrine are essential to spiritual growth. His ministry emphasizes biblical teaching, meaningful Christian fellowship, and caring for one another as members of the body of Christ.

Faith, Family, and Life Together
James and Robin have been married since 2008. Robin is not only his wife but also an invaluable partner in ministry. Dr. Knight readily acknowledges that his ministry would not have been nearly as fruitful without Robin faithfully serving alongside him.
Outside of church, James and Robin enjoy running, spending time with their dogs, and making memories with their four adult children—Jonathan, Taylor, Jordan, and Madison—and their four grandchildren whenever the opportunity arises.
Above all, James and Robin share a love for the Lord and a desire to serve others. They warmly invite you to visit St. John Baptist Church and experience the fellowship of a church family growing together in Christ.
